August 2, 2011
Still accepting pre-orders for the Baltimore Comic-con show coming up. The cut off date is this Friday, August 5th! Commissions will be available for pick up at the show. Not going the show? Mail orders are available! To place an order or reserve your spot, email me at Hesseart at Gmail.com.
Also here's one of the many projects I've been working on...my preview card for the new Painkiller Jane sketch card set by 5finity!
July 21, 2011
I'm now taking pre-orders for Baltimore Comic-con! I'll be at the show August 20th and 21st. I'm offering commissions this time around (before the show) because to be honest, I'm not sure how many commissions I'll be able to do at Baltimore this year. Lately, any shows I do it takes me more and more time to get con sketches done due to a) Talking to people at the table B) Selling merch at the table C) I'm the only one that mans my table the entire show. So in turn that means less sketches that get done. I really hate telling someone that I'm still working on a sketch which should of been done 2 hours ago due to A,B, and C. Could I have better time management? Why sure! But at the same time I need to be realistic, so I'll still be doing sketches at Baltimore, but not as many. So I recommend anyone that wants to get one at the show to come early to get a spot. ;)
Keep your eyes peeled, cause there's going to be some con specials going forward. So if you're not a fan of my Facebook Page or Twitter, I highly recommend it because I'll only be posting the specials on there. What kind of specials? Oh you know, some con special coupons and an oppurtunity to win some free stuff!
Meanwhile, here's my lovely ad for the show!
Also if you're not able to make the show, you can take advantage of this pre-order special as for a flat shipping fee of $7 anywhere in the United States. Outside of the United States? Email me for shipping fees....to reserve your spot or for more information, email me at Hesseart@Gmail.com
Plus, keep your fingers crossed, I'm working on some new merch to bring! More details soon.

July 4, 2011
Happy Fourth of July! To celebrate here's a sneak peak of some art I've been working on...by the way, it's NSFW. So if you're at work and you click on it, well I told ya!! ;) When the art is completed, it's going to be a faux crime/ noir style book cover. Growing up I was such a huge fan of the EC Comics, especially the Tales from the Crypt ones! I came across one of my old ones the other day, one of my favorite stories to date is the Crypt Keeper's Grim Fairy Tale. It was based on the tale of Sleeping Beauty and the reason why she slept (only during the day) is because she was a vampire!

News update! Never got a chance to post about how the Comic Geek Speak Supershow went last month. The show was amazing to say the least! I thank everyone that stopped by to say hi, bought merch, or got a sketch! I was booked solid with commissions that weekend, so this time around I didn't get a chance to talk or visit with everyone as I would of liked. I did make a point to meet Monica Gallagher at EatYourLipstick.com. Super cool woman and awesome art to boot! Other friends or artists that were there that I saw in passing or chatted with, are Kevin Freeman at Subculture.com, Stephanie and Kevin Gabborin at Angrygnomecomic.com, Martheus Wade at Toshigawa.com, and Mr. Phil and Charlito at IndySpinnerRack.com. And how can I forget Amber Love over at AmberUnmasked.com?! There were plenty more friends and artists I saw or chatted with, but this is all my brain can reguritate at the moment.
Here's a photo courtesy from ComicRelated.com of me and my table at the show...

For sale this month is the new issue of Pin Up America magazine, now available in select Barnes and Noble stores! I do the Retro Humor cartoon for the bi-monthly magazine, so check it out if you can! (I mean how can you not? Did you see the model on the cover?) You can also order it directly from the website as well. I'll be adding all the Retro Humor Cartoons I've been doing lately for Pin-up America Magazine in the Gallery. Look for that soon. Added now is some of the pre-orders I did for the Supershow over in the Comics section in the Gallery.

What's up? Been a while since I've posted. Been super busy with art and life in general! Thought I would drop a quick line and let you all know that my first show of the year is coming up this weekend! That's right, the CGS Supershow! The show keeps getting bigger and better each year. If I had to describe it, the show is one HUGE artist's alley, I kid you not! Plus the night before we all get together and get to know one another and DRINK. So...if anyone is in the area, come by 3rd and Spruce in West Reading, PA! If I drink enough, you never know I may end up drawing naked ladies on bar napkins...get in a fist fight with other partrons...who knows? But besides that, make it out April 30th and May 1st for the most awesome show on earth. I'll be there with some new merchandise, doing con sketches, and drinking way too much coffee.
Come on out, see you there!!!
February 17, 2011
Hey all,
Here's some comic related works that I've been promising, Voltron United and Drawn Hardcover by 5Finity and Moonstone. And My preview card for the Sheena Queen of the Jungle card series by 5finty.Pretty excited about them, hope you will be too. :D
February 1, 2011
Look out! February is hereee!! New year, new month, some excitement going on! I posted some new art in the pin-up, logo, and comic section of the Gallery! ( More to be posted soon.) Also be on the look out for the new Voltron, United and Drawn book! I hear it's been shipped. I'm really eager to see how my piece printed out. Call it the geek in me, but I can't wait! Everyone is really familiar with my pin-up style, so this is a different step for me theme-wise. Plus I really want to share it, I've worked so hard on it! But to bide the waiting, here's a piece I just recently finished...
The new art piece is Mermaid Tattoo. Yes, I know it's not the most poetic name for my new art, but hey it works! Plus I'm super happy with how it turned out. Hope you are too.
Besides working on new art, I'm about to acquire some new art myself! Next week I will be getting a new tattoo from Joe Capobianco over at New Hope Gallery in New Haven, CT. Anyone that's not familiar with his fantastic art, you should shoot over to his website right now. The man's art is truly amazing... I first saw his work in an older Tattoo magazine several years ago, looked him up online, and been in love with his art ever since. What I'm getting from him won't be his usual ( but gorgeous ) Capo girl. I'm planning on an upper arm/shoulder piece with a stylized flaming heart with possibly a sparrow, and some scrollwork/script. It's kind of a memorial tattoo in combination with the saying " I wear my heart on my sleeve". It will be interesting and exciting to meet an artist I admire, yet go home with a piece of his work. I'll be sure to post pics when everything is said and done. Hopefully all this crazy weather will clear up by then. If not, you may see an aburned hair woman shoveling her way out of New Jersey to make her tattoo appointment!
Plus I guess it's safe to mention I will be working on the new Sheena sketch card series by 5Finity! I was asked to be one of their "rare" artists, which I was flattered to say the least. I'm really excited to work on this series...from what I hear the cards are already sold out pre-order wise! Pretty impressive.
Also, call it an artist/designer never satisfied. I'm currently overhauling the look of my website. Feeling that it needs to be more "fun" and reflect more of my personality. Next time I write hopefully the site will have a new look! Until then..
xoxo,
E
January 2, 2011
Happy New Year!! Hoping everyone had a fun and safe new year! My New Year was relatively quiet, spent it with some friends and hubby. I'm such a lightweight, I only had one beer and was ready to call it a night. Now if that beer was coffee...well that's a different story! ;)
To kick off the New Year, there's a new pin-up magazine in town, that made it's debut this month! It's called Pin-Up America magazine! For the first issue, I was asked to be the featured artist! On top of that, it seems I'll also be the regular artist for the retro humor cartoon that will be in each issue! Cool, huh? The magazine will be bi-monthly and showcases pin-up, burlesque, tattoos, and more! They also have a great online community where you can network, make friends, or enjoy the many facets of pin-up!
To buy the magazine or to join the network, http://www.PinUpAmerica.com/
I did a new logo for Retrotease.net, a social network for the Burlesque community around the world. I can't tell you how excited I was when asked to do this, I love Burlesque!! Hopefully I will get to do more projects involving Burlesque in the future. In the past I've done several posters for Burlesque venues, they are always very cheeky and fun to do! Also in the works are more sketch cards, The Key issue #3, and some other projects I can't share as of yet.

For 2011, I'm making a conscience decision to get more creative projects done and less shows this year. It sucks, I know. But doing shows really does take a huge chunk of time ( preparation! preparation! preparation! ) and I would rather see more stuff come to light. So my "appearance" list may not be as big this year. As of right now, I'm only doing Comic Geek Speak Supershow and Baltimore comic-con this year.
October 20 2010
Finally got a chance to post! Really haven't had a moment since coming back from Nycc, between work and well work it makes a girl tirreed! I'm sitting down, with my cat, Sampson on my lap, and drinking some green tea with honey. So let's see what's going on ....first up is New York Comic-con! I was at NYCC at the GIrls Drawing Girls booth a few weekends ago, helping out with selling merchandise and promoting what Girls Drawing Girls is all about! I wasn't a part of the madness/big snafu situation with table space in the morning, but we were moved to an awesome corner spot ( You can read about it on fellow Girls Drawing Girl's artist Paigey! Blog) which apparently worked out for the better! I have to say we were pretty busy traffic wise the entire weekend!
When I wasn't at the Girls Drawing Girls booth, I was walking the floor, buying some sweet ass pin-up art, and saying hi to some of my artist's friends. Needless to say, the floor was complete madness! Trying to see everyone and everything was virtually impossible. That being said, it makes me wonder if they will eventually extend the show to another day like SDCC. I guess we'll see.
Some pictures that were taken at the show. To check out the rest of them...

To check out and bid!
Wonder Woman Day is A HUGE event that celebrates the comic book artistic community and raises money for a great cause SAFE in Hunterdon (Our local Crisis Center)! All the money raised from the sketches and other donated items will go to SAFE in Hunterdon as a part of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
To bid, www.comicfusion.com! |
A while ago I was hinting at some big news ( big news to me anyway :) a piece of my art is going to be in the new VOLTRON art book, "Voltron: United and Drawn" by Moonstone and 5Finity productions! I'm super geeked out about this, especially since I used to watch Voltron alot when I was a kid! I can't show the piece of art at this moment, but you can pre-order the book at the Voltron.com Webstore. I believe the book will be out early winter of next year. I can't wait to see the book!
Go Voltron force! |

What's news without some new art to show? I've been super busy with alot of art as of late. ( no complaints here! ) One of the things I've done recently is a logo for the Orlando Psycho City Derby Girls in Orlando! Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE roller derby.( even though I can't skate for shit )To check out the team and check out the cool merch! Look even my boobs make an appearance on their site...;)
|
Also I did a cool new logo for the Roddin' Zombies car club! Was really happy with how it turned out. Has a nice hot rod flavor to it...nice to do something a bit different than my usual babes. So the secret is out, I do draw guys! Dead zombie guys at least ;)
That's all I have for now... I will have more news in the near future. I'm working on a few new projects I can't wait to share with you. My comic "The Key" issue #3 is still in the works as well as my pin-up book.
You may have noticed that I have no appearances listed in the right hand corner, there's a reason for that...I'm not doing anymore shows for the rest of the year! I really need to concentrate on getting more art done . Sooo until next time..

Ok, it's official! Myself and the GIrls Drawing GIrls Group will be at New York Comic Con in a few weeks! We'll be there in the Small Press at booth 2479, selling prints, books, calendars, t-shirts, and sketchbooks! Come by to check out a bevy of beautiful girls and see what immense of a talent they are! I'll be there each day selling our group's wares as well as some of my own. I will be selling mini-prints, Frankenstein Babe t-shirt, and my new sketchbook! (An FYI, at this show I won't be doing any commissions.) As the date gets closer, I will post more information and scheduled times when I'll be at the table!
As some of you may know, I was at Wild Pig Con this past Saturday! If you have never been to a Wild Pig Con you all missed out! The event is twice a year and have a massive inventory of trades that are sold at 50% off! (Let me tell you they were flying off the shelves!) Plus awesome raffles to boot.
It seems that my new sketchbook is getting great reception and is doing really well! For that, I thank everyone for picking one up at the show ( and Baltimore! ) I really super appreciate the support of my art. I also did some really cool commissions too, except I have no pictures because well I forgot my camera. If I happen to come across them I will post em' here or on Facebook. Speaking of commissions, I did some really cool ones at Baltimore a few weeks ago. To check them out...
Finally got a chance to do some updates in the Shop as well! Several more prints and a new sketchbook for sale! As always, any questions about shipping or prices email me at hesseart@gmail.com. More stuff will be added soon. Given my crazy hectic schedule! ;)
That's it for this second...to keep up to date on what's current, join my Facebook and Twitter account. All my latest art updates are posted there as well as my rants on how much I hate name brands on my ass. Until then...

Erica!
September 17, 2010
Yes I've been bad, really bad. Bad at updates! ;) I will do a more well deserved update this upcoming Sunday. News on me be at NYCC, Baltimore recap, and more! Right now the word on the street is that I will be at Wild Pig Con this Saturday, one day only! I'll have my new Girls, Girls, Girls! sketchbook and some new prints. That's all for now. ^ _ ^
xoxo,
Erica
p.s. I updated the gallery with some new and past art! Enjoy!
August 23, 2010
Holy Cowwww. Been over a month since the last update already? Time for a little update then. Baltimore Comicon is coming up this weekend, August 28th-29th! Man how time flies. I'm trying to pull together some new goodies to sell at the show. I'll be having some new pin-up prints and possibly a new sketchbook for the show. I'll also be having my usual fare of sketch ( Pup's and Mixtape ) cards, original art, comic books, and tshirts as well. Plus I will be doing commissions too. Not sure how many commissions I will be taking on, so come early if you would like one. Since I've been offering full color commissions at shows, they've been taking up a bit more time on my part, so it may mean less spots open. And if anyone that comes to my table, knows I'm a bit of talker so that maybe part of the problem too ;) My table is A81 in Artist Alley. Swing by and say hi if you can, I'm always up for a meet and greet. ^ _ ^
Update on the Key #3. RIght now it's in progress/in progress! I was planning to have it done for the summer, but alas other paying gigs came my way and to be perfectly honest...a gal's gotta eat and have a place to live. So unfortunately the personal projects always get put on hold. But! That doesn't mean it won't get done, just not on schedule like I planned. I'd rather take my time getting it done than slapping it together and not being pleased with the end result. So hang in there, Issue 3 is going to be SWEET.
I have some sketch cards up on Ebay right now, all proceeds going toward the March of Dimes! It's for a good cause, check them out or even bid on some if you can.

Other than that, that's pretty much it. Well not really. I have a few pieces of art that are possibly/ARE! getting published and can't wait to share the news with you! Except I can't right now. And it's killlllin' me! It's like keeping a secret from your best friend! But you know me, I will tell the world once I find out ;) So for now enjoy what's left of this sweltering hot heat of summer that's left and hope to see you in Baltimore!
xoxo,
Erica
July 7 , 2010
I've been so busy with commissions and personal work I almost forgot to mention one of the coolest events that will be happening in NYC this Thursday! (You may have seen the listing over to the far right under my "Appearance" section.) Here's the 411. The Girls Drawin Girl's first ever East Coast group art show is being curated by the talented Paigey Pumphrey. The event is Thursday, July 8th in NYC at Niagara Bar from 9pm to 1am in the East Village. There will be original art for display, ( and for sale! ) prints, tshirts, buttons, artbooks, all kinds of merch to buy! I will be there helping out, hanging out, you get the picture. I hope to see you all there!

Hi everyone! I finally got a chance to put my AE Pup's Sketch cards together up for sale! What I'm doing is offering all the cards irregardless rarity of breed, all the same flat price for $30 each including shipping. (This is USD and shipped in the US, if outside the US, shipping will be extra ) Even the Mandy and Skoots card will be offered at the same price. If interested, email me at Hesseart@gmail.com for more information.
What I'm also doing is taking part of the proceeds and buying pet supplies (dog food, cat food, etc.) for one of the many local animal shelters in my area. I was thinking about just donating the money, but this way I know it's going toward the animals. Why am I doing this? I'm a huge animal lover and if I can help other animals that are in dyer need, this is my small way of doing it. :)
If interested, email me at hesseart@gmail.com. Many thanks!

Two postings in a week time span! The worlds have collided! Just a short posting, need to let everyone know that Philly Wizard World is this weekend! Yep it's here already. But you may notice that over in my appearances spot? There's no WIzard Philly! That my friends is because my con funds are spread a little thin at the moment. I really wanted to do it this year ( I mean how can I not, it's practically in my backyard!) but I have to be realistic in what I can spend. That being said, I'm seriously re-thinking how I do shows from now on. So some of the moolah I put into shows this year will be put into different shows next year. I'm thinking Heroes con and perhaps NY Comicon. But that's not until next year, so let's get to the whole point of this conversation!
Even though I won't be "setting up " at the show, I will be there Saturday walking around. If anyone has been itching to buy my comic, The Key #1 or #2 hit me up hesseart@gmail.com. I'm planning to bring some with me to the show if anyone's interested in buying one or two. Or heck three, give one to a friend! Plus if you're interested in any prints, I can bring them too, especially the limited to 50,lovely VooDoo Baby print that is signed by Ms. Acid Pop Tart and myself! I do have other prints, but are not listed in the shop yet. Check out the gallery, and if you see one you like? Email me for availability at hesseart@gmail.com. We can discuss from there where and when I can meet you at the show. :)
See you at Philly Wizard World on Saturday!

Been a bit since I've done an update, been super busy! Currently working on a few projects, one of them being Jim Mahfood's Mixtape sketchcards by 5Finity! Pretty cool set, having alot of fun with it artistically. Hopefully I will be able to post some when given the ok ;)
Also working on a painting for the Girls Drawing Girls one day show in NY! GIrls Drawing Girls is a group I recently joined that features female artists that illustrate pin-ups. Don't have too much information at this very second, but will shortly. What I can say is that it is a one day show, and I will have a piece up for display to view, to buy, or just admire.
Working hard on the Key #3! Working on the laying out ( pencils )stage as we speak, hoping to have it available for pre-order in August sometime! I've been getting alot of postive and constructive feedback on issue #2. (Issue 2 is in the shop for sale! ) Being new to illustrating comics, I have a lot to learn and have learned a lot along the way. I kind of look at The Key as a learning process, ( in illustrating comics )and I appreciate everyone that has been supportive and is along for the ride!
Still need to do updates on the gallery and store! I do truly have more than one print available for sale! I will make an effort this coming week to fill up the store a little bit. Plus update the gallery! I do a lot of posting on Facebook, so add me there if you'd like! (among my other places I cohort at ) I guess I should mention the Zombie a Day blog has been on again off again, yet again! My apologies, but I think after alot of thought I need to put it on the shelf for good right now. I really have to focus on my current projects, commissions, etc. and this takes up some time. I appreciate everyone that has been following the blog. I'm still debating whether to leave it up or take it down. If I do take it down, I will put some of the best pieces in the gallery. Now this doesn't mean I'm done with illustrating zombies! There are zombies galore in The Key #3 and I will still be doing my Love Kills Zombie Girl here and there. Just not making it a point to do a zombie sketch everyday. Hope everyone understands. Thanks so much and will post soon!

Also I finished up the sketch cards I did for 5finity, P'ups: Pin-ups and Puppies card set featuring Dean Yeagle's Mandy and Skoots! Here's a sketch card I did that's for the series. Anyone that knows me, knows that I lovvvve animals (and pin-ups!) so this was right up my alley. Isn't the puppy cute? ;) For more information on the card series, check out 5finity.

April 7 , 2010
Finally making some updates on the website. Some things that are different. Section to the right, "My Other Sites" is now gone and replaced in the main nav. bar above "Appearances". Fancy little buttons, yes? :) One thing you may notice, there is a Twitter button. I know I deleted my account a little while back, which I may have to admit was due to my lack of technology. Ok truthfully? My lack of embracing technology. Twitter is back, feel free to add me on. I have to admit I received several emails of "why?" and actually a bit of help in how to update everything at once. Thank you, you know who you are! :)
Another thing that has changed is the Gallery. Right now the only page you can click is the "Illustrations" and subtitle "pin-ups". Still in the midst of updating, and categorizing the gallery. Added some new pieces, will be adding the rest in the next few weeks. I will also be adding the shop and more information about commissions. This means every link will be working soon.
Also I added a few more appearances! CGS Supershow came and went, and was great! Thanks to everyone that picked up their pre-ordered commissions, got sketches, bought a print, or picked up the Key #2! Next up is Pittsburgh Comicon in the next few weeks. I will be there the entire weekend doing sketches and bringing my usual merch with some new prints and comics! I will be doing a special limited edition print at the show, I will post more information on that soon! I will be adding more shows in the weeks to come, so keep any eye out I will be sure to keep it updated. :)
Some of you may know The Key #2 is here! I'm in the process of setting up the shop again, and will have them available for sale. For people that pre-ordered them through DCBS, they will be receiving them this week/early next week. I needed to finish up the free head sketches that came with each book. Also anyone that paid in advance for The Key #2 I will be shipping those out this week as well.
Ok, I think that covers it for right now. Off to finish up some sketches and sketch cards for the P'ups 5finity card set!

Time for an update. The Key#2 is at the printers as we speak. It looks like I should have the comic in the store by the end of March! Can't wait to see the finished product. The guys over at Ka-Blam always do a great job printing them up.
Been working on a few pin-ups that I will placing in the gallery sometime this week. St. Patty's Day pin-ups!
Deleting some sites/blogs that I really don't feel the need to have anymore. Not that I don't like them, I think I have too many to update. So say goodbye to Twitter and ComicSpace. You've been good to me, but when I'm doing updates it's way too much.
Working on a new poster and a new sketch card set(s). Can't say what yet until everything's done.
That's it for now, will post some new art later this week.

Erica

"The Key" tab on the website is finally updated. All the preview pages from the first and second issue are there for your viewing. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone that has pre-ordered The Key issue 2! We appreciate all the support (Chris and I) and know the second issue has been a bit of a wait, but we definately think it will be well worth it. :)That being said, the comic will be available here (in the shop) sometime in February. I will have more details on that shortly.
Looking into what shows I'm planning on doing this year and so far it looks to be CGS Super Show, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. There are a few others, but still up in the air right now, more details on those soon. Plus I should mention that the majority, well all of the shows are going to be local for me. Times are tough and airline prices are ridiculous. So it looks like where ever my car can take me (within reason) I will try to make. :) If anyone has any suggestions for shows, comic shops, shoot me an email over at hesseart@gmail.com.
Thanks!

Monday, January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. To participate, we formed the Comic Creator's Alliance--a group of over eighty comic book creators (both web and print) who volunteered our artistic talents to raise money and awareness for this cause. You may not know it, but there are currently 27 million enslaved people worldwide- more than double the number of enslaved Africans during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. UNICEF estimates that 1.2 million children every year are sold into slavery, most of it sexual. The US Department of Justice estimates 16,000 victims of human trafficking are brought into the United States every year. Unlike slavery in the 19th century, what is happening today is happening in secret. So it won't end until awareness is raised, and people like you and me take a stand.

So here's what we did: each creator contributed an original drawing of one of our own female characters, and combined them into a single wallpaper image. The wallpaper features characters from The Phoenix Requiem, Girls with Slingshots, Earthsong, Looking for Group, Shadowgirls, Marsh Rocket, The Uniques and three IDW Publishing titles: Fallen Angel, The Dreamland Chronicles and The Dreamer, and lots, lots more! Donate today to download this unique, once-in-a-lifetime wallpaper. The Donations Drive will last for two weeks, from January 11th - 24th. All proceeds will be split evenly between Love146 and Gracehaven House- two organizations working on rehabilitation of victims and prevention of this crime.
To learn more about the Comic Creator's Alliance visit www.comicalliance.weebly.com. To learn more about the problem, visit http://love146.org/slavery. (Note: contains adult themes and actual accounts of sex slavery.)

Happy New Year y'all! Can't believe a year has gone by so quickly! So excited that it's a new year! Lots of new things on the horizon, The Key issue #2 should be ready to be sent out by everyone that pre-ordered. Which I should say thanks! to everyone that did order a copy! I haven't recieved the numbers yet, so not sure exactly how many sketches I need to do. I do have some done already, but planning to do more. ;) There are some other things coming up as well, and WOULD love to tell you but I can't! In this business, it seems to be the best thing to do, is wait until the ink is dry before I can make any annoucements. I've learned this the hard way. Some deals get made, some get broken, alot of projects just get canned to be quite honest.
There is one thing that I can mention that is very, very important. So important I'm posting it above this post for the time being. It's starting this Monday, but going to talk about it now. So read above! If you haven't already..love ya guys and talk to you soon!

Pinup art for Fangirl of the Month calendar at Panels on Pages.com. Each month showcases the respective fangirl and their "superhero" handle illustrated by individual artists. I did Miss July, Christina aka Evil Cheshire Cat . I also did a cute logo but you have to go check out Panels on Pages to see that. :)
Check out the calendar and buy it, cause a lot of cool artists and fangirls participated in this project. And cause it's awesome.
